Hiway has made a commitment to assist our members in getting on the right track, or getting back on track — whichever the case may be. Our Builder accounts are designed for members who do not currently qualify for some of Hiway's other products or services.
Our Checking Builder account gives you access to funds anytime either in person, by using checks, debit card, or through the automated teller machine. This account is for members with a credit score of less than 600 and no derogatory items, who wish to establish checking and work towards improving credit so they qualify for more in the future.

Get on Track
Apply for our Free Checking account and if your credit score is under 600, you may be offered the Checking Builder account.
After 12 months, your Checking Builder account will be reviewed and moved to a traditional Checking account if the following criteria is met:
- consistent monthly deposit(s) of $300 or more to the account for the last 4 months
- account has a positive balance
- no more than 6 NSF fees charged to your account in the past 12 months
- must complete at least 6 debit card transactions per month
The Builder account fee is $5 per month (fee assessed on the last business day of the month). The fee will be taken from the Checking Builder account; if unavailable, fee will be taken from Share Savings Builder. Fee is waived each month a deposit of $25 or more is made to a Certificate Builder under this membership. If you're interested in opening a Certificate Builder, contact us today.

Builder accounts are not eligible for the following services, including but not limited to:
- Shared Branch Services
- Mobile Deposits
- External Account Transfers
- Zelle® Payments
- Courtesy Pay
