Deposit Checks

Do you ever have to rush into the branch over your lunch hour to deposit a check? Or maybe you live out of town and have to wait for your check to reach Hiway in the mail before you get access to your funds. At Hiway, there are faster and easier ways to get access to your money.

DeposZip

DeposZip® allows you to deposit checks into your account by using a TWAIN compliant scanner connected to your computer or by taking a picture with a supported iPhone® or AndroidTM mobile device.* You don't even need to mail us your check—simply retain it for 90 days in a secure location and then shred it.

Once approved for this service, you can use either option to deposit your checks.

DeposZip Mobile

DeposZip Mobile is available through our Hiway Mobile Banking app and makes depositing a check as simple as taking a picture with your mobile phone.

  • Signing Up

    Applying is easy, just follow the steps below:

    1. Launch the Hiway Mobile Banking app and log in.
    2. Tap on the three horizontal lines in the upper-left to open the navigation menu.
    3. Tap on the Make a Deposit button.
    4. Tap on one of your accounts to review and accept the DeposZip user agreement and allow two (2) business days for approval. You will receive an email notification once your request has been processed.

    After you are approved, clicking on one of your accounts from the Make a Deposit screen will launch DeposZip and allow you to make a deposit.

  • Using DeposZip Mobile

    Once you've been approved:

    1. Launch the Hiway Mobile Banking app and log in.
    2. Tap on the three horizontal lines in the upper-left to open the navigation menu.
    3. Tap on the Make a Deposit button.
    4. Tap on the account you want to deposit your check to.
    5. The Deposit screen will ask you to enter the deposit amount and take a picture of the front and back of your check. The back of your check should include the following:

      Your Signature
      Your Member Number
      Via DeposZip on mm/dd/yyyy (the date of deposit)
    6. If the deposit is accepted, funds will immediately appear in your account. In some instances your deposit may need to be reviewed before it is accepted. This will happen in 1 - 2 business days and you will receive an email notification when the deposit is processed.
    Please retain your original check for 90 days in a secure location and then shred it.
  • Supported Devices

    DeposZip Mobile works with a variety of supported smartphones and other devices by utilizing the built-in camera to capture check images. The list of supported devices follows:

    The App Store (i.e. Apple)

    • iPhone 3GS or higher
    • iPod touch 4S or higher
    • iPad 2, iPad 3 and iPad mini

    Google Play (i.e. Android)

    • Smartphones with the Android 2.1 Operating System or greater
    • Android Tablets
    • No "Small Screen" support, i.e. all but "QVGA" 240wx320h are supported

    Note: Smartphone must have a 2.0 megapixel (or greater) camera

DeposZip Desktop

The desktop version of DeposZip uses a scanner attached to your computer to capture an image of your check.

  • Signing Up

    Applying is easy, just follow the steps below:

    1. Log into Tellernet Online Banking from your computer.
    2. Click on Make a Deposit in the column on the left.
    3. Click on the Use DeposZip Desktop button.
    4. Click on one of your accounts to review and accept the DeposZip user agreement and allow two (2) business days for approval. You will receive an email notification once your request has been processed.

    After you are approved, clicking on the DeposZip button will launch a new window where you can scan your check(s) for deposit.

  • Using DeposZip Desktop

    Once you've been approved:

    1. Log into Tellernet Online Banking using a computer attached to a scanner.
    2. Click on Make a Deposit in the column on the left.
    3. Click on the Use DeposZip Desktop button.
    4. Choose the account you want to deposit your check to.
    5. DeposZip will launch and you will begin on the New Deposits page.
    6. The New Deposits page will ask you to enter the total amount of your deposit and scan the front and back of your check(s). The back of your check should include the following:

      Your Signature
      Your Member Number
      Via DeposZip on mm/dd/yyyy (the date of deposit)
    7. You will also be asked to choose your scanner for importing check images. If you have problems scanning your check, you can try using one of the different methods provided by DeposZip:
      • ActiveX Version - Only available for the Internet Explorer web browser.
      • Java Version - Available in multiple web browsers if you have Java installed on your computer.
      • Zero-Client Version - Allows you to upload a check image that has been previously scanned.

      If you have problems scanning your check with one method, you can switch to another method by clicking on its link just below the scanning area on the left.

      If you are using the ActiveX Version or Java Version and nothing seems to happen when you click the Scan button, please minimize your web browser window to see if the scanner dialog opened behind it.

      If you would like to troubleshoot scanner problems, click on Help in the main navigation menu.

    8. Once you have finished scanning in or uploading your check images, click the Continue button to review the check(s) included in your deposit.
    9. When your deposit is in balance and there are no image quality errors, click the Submit Deposit button.
    10. If the deposit is accepted, funds will immediately appear in your account. In some instances your deposit may need to be reviewed before it is accepted. This will happen in 1 - 2 business days and you will receive an email notification when the deposit is processed.

    Please retain your original check for 90 days in a secure location and then shred it.

  • Supported Devices

    DeposZip works with common TWAIN device drivers used for everything from desktop flatbed scanners and all-in-one devices to multi-feed duplex scanners. DeposZip supports the current version, plus one prior version, of the following environments:

    • Windows XP or greater with Internet Explorer or Firefox

    Mac OSX does not support scanning within DeposZip. However, you may scan check images using your normal scanner interface and then upload them using the Zero-Client option within DeposZip.

*In order to be eligible for DeposZip, you must be at least 18 years of age and your account must be in good standing with no delinquencies. If you are between the ages of 13 - 17 and would like to use this service, you and the joint tenants on your account will need to complete and sign additional documentation. Service not available for Share Builder, HSA and Business Savings Basic accounts. Standard data rates may apply.

Remote Deposit for Businesses

Remote Deposit is the convenient, simple and secure way to make deposits into your Hiway Business Account without ever leaving the comfort of your office. By being able to electronically scan and submit checks 24/7, you'll have more time to concentrate on growing your business.

How Does it Work?

Simply scan the business checks you want to deposit with a check transport scanner. The images are then transmitted to Hiway through a secure, encrypted internet connection and the deposit is credited to your account.

How Much Does it Cost?

Remote Deposit is a FREE service provided to our business members. The only cost you incur is the check transport scanner - we can refer you to a couple of vendors to purchase your equipment. Once you have the scanner, we'll assist you with installing the necessary software on your computer. Plus, we'll guide you on how to use the software and answer any questions you may have about Remote Deposit.
