Furthering Hiway’s commitment to establishing and supporting an environment where everyone is welcome and where all members and associates feel comfortable, Hiway has announced a new partnership with the African-American Credit Union Coalition.

The African-American Credit Union Coalition (AACUC) is a non-profit organization created to increase the strength of the global credit union community.

Through the partnership, Hiway will be able to support and help further the AACUC’s mission to:

  • Strengthen diversity, equity and inclusion with a focus on African Americans in the credit union industry, membership opportunities and access to training and development.
  • Assist in creation of curriculum aimed at addressing wealth equity in communities of color.
  • Support the development of a model focused on reaching and building partnerships in diverse communities for large credit unions.
  • Increase the overall interest and strength of the credit union movement

“A commitment to Diversity and Equity is not new to Hiway,” said Tasha Williams-Hudson, Hiway’s Assistant Contact Center Manager.  “In fact, we put a greater focus on it last year, prior to the racial unrest of today. I often tell people that I am blessed with the management and senior management that we have at Hiway because they are steadfast in their commitment to equity and inclusion for ALL people. This partnership with the AACUC just enhances that commitment and gives us another avenue for expanding the work that we’ve already begun.”

Hiway has had a longstanding commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, and partnering with the AACUC is just one more step in that direction. To build upon this commitment, Hiway created an internal Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee earlier this year to champion ongoing training and education for all associates and increase collaboration and discussion surround diversity and inclusion between its staff and the company’s senior management. Hiway also established a Community Response Team which on several recent occasions has mobilized quickly to support community efforts, including volunteering to help distribute water, food and other essentials to those in need while also helping with cleanup efforts following local civil unrest.
