Frequently Asked Login Questions

Q: I forgot my Tellernet password. How can I get back in?
A: If an incorrect member number or password is entered on the Tellernet login page, a Member Verification Error will be displayed. If you previously set up Challenge Questions in Tellernet, you can simply click the Forgot your password? link below the Tellernet login fields to reset your password yourself. Or, you can call Member Services to have your password reset.

If you are trying to access your account outside of business hours and are unable to get your Tellernet password reset, you may be able to access your account through Tellerfone. If you haven't called in to change it, your Tellerfone pin will be the original password used when first activating your Tellernet account.

Q: I mis-typed my Tellernet login too many times and now I'm locked out of Tellernet. How do I get unlocked?
A: If you know the answers to your Challenge Questions, you can unlock your account yourself by clicking the Forgot your password? link below the Tellernet login area. Otherwise, simply call Member Services and we will take you through the steps needed to get back into the system immediately! To prevent lock-outs in the future, the first time you log in to Tellernet with your new password, set up your Challenge Questions.

Q: I keep getting this prompt for something called Enhanced Login Security when I log in to Tellernet – what is this?
A: This is a feature that helps prevent unauthorized access to your account. Once you've enrolled your computer, you won't even know it's there! Take a moment to learn more about Enhanced Login Security and how to enroll.

Q: I have to answer challenge questions every time I log in to Tellernet. Is there a way to avoid this?
A: Once you are registered for Enhanced Login Security, you also need to register your computer/browser so it will be recognized. You can use the steps below to register any computer(s) you use frequently and will no longer have to answer the three challenge questions unless you clear out your cookies. If you have a recent version of the Flash player from www.adobe.com, you won't even have to worry about clearing out your cookies because a backup of the secure cookie will be stored in a Flash object.

  1. Log in to Tellernet with your member number and password and answer your challenge questions.
  2. Go to User Options and click on Enhanced Login Security.
  3. On the Enhanced Login Security Screen, leave the first (default) radio button selected and click on Submit.
  4. Click OK on the popup window that is displayed. A secure cookie will be placed in your browser identifying your computer.
  5. A success screen will confirm that your computer/browser has been registered.

Q: What does a message about an 'Expired Security Certificate' mean when I attempt to log in to Tellernet?
A: The security of your personal account information is very important to us; please be assured that Tellernet is a secure site. One possible cause of the certificate error is that the system date kept on your computer is incorrect. To check your system date, double click on the time showing in the bottom right corner of your computer screen. For a variety of reasons, the system date may become reset to 1980, which then triggers the certificate error. If your system date is correct and you are still receiving the certificate error, please let us know and we will continue to follow up.

Q: When I enter my Member Number to log in to Tellernet, my password fills in automatically. How can I turn that off?
A: Internet Explorer's AutoComplete feature stores user ID and password combinations used to view password-protected sites on your computer's hard drive. When you return to the login page of one of these sites, Internet Explorer automatically fills in the password value once you enter your user ID. If there is a possibility that people unauthorized to view your Hiway account information will be using your PC, we recommend disabling the AutoComplete feature. To disable AutoComplete, follow these steps: In your browser's menu, click Tools, then Internet Options. Click the Content tab. Click the AutoComplete button under the Personal Information section of the window. Make sure the "User names and passwords on forms" checkbox is unchecked. Click the Clear Passwords button under Clear AutoComplete history. Click OK to close the AutoComplete Settings and Internet Options windows.
